CarSim
CarSim simulates the dynamic behavior of racecars, passenger cars, light trucks, and utility vehicles.

It is built on decades of research in characterizing vehicles and reproducing their behavior with mathematical models CarSim is used to design, develop, test and plan vehicle programs. You can make better decisions involving vehicle dynamics quicker with CarSim.

Use CarSim to prove initial concepts, select components, and perform advanced analysis of existing vehicles.

CarSim combines a complete vehicle math model with high computational speed. CarSim easily supports real-time (RT) testing with hardware in the loop (HIL) using systems from most RT suppliers. This speed also helps with software that requires many repetitions (optimization, DOE, etc.).

The CarSim math models cover the complete vehicle system and its inputs from the driver, ground, and aerodynamics. The models are extensible using built-in commands, MATLAB/Simulink or custom C code.

CarSim has all the tools you need to predict vehicle dynamics behavior in one integrated package, with the capability of working with other software to extend its capabilities even further.

TruckSim
TruckSim is a software tool for simulating and analyzing the dynamic behavior of medium to heavy trucks, buses and articulated vehicles.

It operates just like CarSim with a few important differences:

  • Different steering systems
  • Dual tires
  • Multiple axle configurations
  • Several tractor-trailer combinations
  • Suspended cabs
  • Frame torsional flexibility (at extra-cost)

BikeSim
BikeSim is a tool specifically designed to simulate the dynamic behavior of motorcycles and scooters for engineers who do not have the months or years necessary to learn to use older simulation methods. BikeSim analyzes the response to the rider's inputs - steering torque, braking, shifting, throttle, body lean, and lateral shifting of the body mass. Environmental inputs are included - aerodynamics, road geometry and friction.

BikeSim can run with MATLAB/Simulink by providing an S-Function model for importing/exporting all key variables. Users can easily include controller and actuator blocks for ABS, TCS or any new type of sub-system. BikeSim is available in real-time systems to test HIL or SIL for ECU development

Real-Time and Driving Simulator versions
Specific versions of CarSim, TruckSim and BikeSim have been realized to fully exploit the power and easiness of MSC models into the development and testing of Electronic Control Units for vehicle dynamics (brakes, stability, suspensions, etc.), through real-time implementation, very well suited for hardware-in-the-loop operations.

Any commercial RT system includes live plotting and analysis options, which can be applied to the CarSim/TruckSim/BikeSim models, along with any hardware in the loop. Further, all of the post-processing capabilities from our software still work, including the built-in plotter, the animator, and automatic export to Excel, MATLAB, and other external software. In addition, the RT versions of our simulations support live animation of the vehicle during testing.

Depending on individual customer needs, simulators can use CarSim, CarSim Source, CarSim RT or the new CarSim DS designed specifically for driving simulators. This same product range is available in TruckSim for medium to heavy-duty trucks, and BikeSim for motorcycle simulators. Engineers, Race Drivers, Control system developers and other users can "drive" their vehicles at their desks or in custom-built simulators. Software-in-the-loop capability, inherent to all versions of CarSim, allows realistic evaluations of ESC, radar braking, adaptive cruise control, or any electronic chassis system.

Driving simulator capability is also available with our real-time Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems. Engineers can test new electronic controllers in a real-time driving experience. They can also install a complete vehicle system in a simulator running CarSim RT and an HIL system. Possible applications include evaluation of driver responses to new Intelligent Traffic Systems or advanced proactive safety systems, accident reconstruction and driver training.
